Formed in the Womb: The Sacred Journey of Life

Grade Level:

Middle School (Grade 7–8)

Time Required:

One class period (45–60 minutes)

Materials Needed:

– Student Worksheet: Scripture + Virtue Reflection (Click on Student Theological Connections Worksheet to the right).

– Bible (optional, for Scripture reading)
– Student journals or writing paper

Objectives:

– Reflect on the sacredness of human life from conception through fetal development
– Understand prenatal growth as a visible sign of God’s design and personal love
– Connect scientific milestones (e.g., heartbeat, movement, brain formation) to Scripture and theology
– Deepen appreciation for each person’s worth through the lens of Catholic teaching
– Practice virtue-based reflection and discussion, especially reverence, compassion, and humility
